St George

Last weekend we drove down to St George to see James' dad and sweet wife Carol.  They have a beautiful home and pool in their backyard...my kids spent the entire day in the water.

Elsie loved this floaty thing.  She spent most of the day in it.  The rest of the time she spent doggy-paddling around in the water without her swim-vest, making me super nervous.

They had a blast on the teeter-toter.

 James trying to get on...
I kept trying to explain to him the concept of a teeter-toter...they only really work when both people are approximately the same weight.

He never listens.
This happened over and over again.

Years ago I said that if the day ever came that my little scaredy cat boy would dare jump off the edge of the pool and swim to the other side...I would consider it my greatest accomplishment as a mother.
I can now retire.

And when I retire, I definitely need a house with a pool.

James and Elsie relaxing in the water...

Spencer has a way of never letting anyone relax for long.

Grace was a little grumpy, but she always has fun with dad.

And my favorite tender moments with my kids on the trip...

We had just finished the following conversation when I took this picture.
Spence:  Mom, what do you think the most popular cheese in the world is?
Me:  I dunno bud.
Spence:  It's gotta be Chwiss.
Me:  Chwiss?
Spence:  Yeah.  Don't ya know it's a combination of cheddar and swiss?  Can't get much better than that mom.

Elsie just getting back from the breakfast buffet at the hotel.  I didn't go, I stayed in the room with our little 15 month old terror that doesn't do well in restaurant places.  I took this picture in the middle of this conversation:
Me:  What'dya have for breakfast today Elsie?
Elsie:  mini-waffles, a banana, a bagel, some eggs, juice, and....um...don't ya know those red crunchy things you gave me at the breakfast place yestertime?
Me:  Bacon?
Elsie:  Yeah, bacon.

Grace, rockin the morning hair, empty-ing out Spence and Elsie's backpacks while they were at breakfast with Dad. ♥

We had a great weekend...thanks grandma and grandpa!!

Grace 15 months

So I may be just a teensy weensy bit biased, but I think she's pretty cute.

She's finally becoming a little less grumpy, and a lot more playful.
Thank GOODNESS.

And she's finally saying mommy.
So I'm not sure she actually means ME when she says it... I think she's just figured out it's the word to say when she wants something.
But, I'll take it none the less!

Happy 15 months old baby girl!

summer

I have been such a boring mom this summer. Grace is at the stage where she has to have her naps or our life is just miserable.  She still takes a 1 and 1/2 hour morning nap, and a 2 hour afternoon nap.  So, my poor kids have been house bound this summer.

Grace is growing so so so fast.  She has finally (thank heavens!) learned to crawl.  That has made life so much happier for us all.  Here are some of my favorite pictures of her taken this summer.

nothing better than hugs and kisses when dad gets home from work.

bath time.

we love you grace!

Elsie Preschool

My Elsie girl graduated from preschool last week.

Try as I might, I could NOT get my little fashionista to take off her sunglasses.

And to say that my little girl has a mind of her own, would be the understatement of the year.  When she sets her mind on something...nothing - I repeat NOTHING will change her mind.

Lucky me!

Elsie and Miss Amber.

Thankfully Miss Amber is in our ward and lives a block away.  Considering the fact that I'm on the road well over an hour a day transporting Spencer to and from school, the block away thing was great!

Not to mention, Miss Amber was wonderful and Elsie adores her.

Elsie's best little friend Ellie.

I've decided that these two will either grow up to be bestest friends EVER, or rival enemies.  Lol. They are so funny when they play together.  They treat each other just like sisters... one minute they'll be fighting like cats and dogs, and the next minute they're laughing their heads off.  :)  Ellie is an adorable little girl and we are so lucky and thankful they moved into our neighborhood.

Congrats beautiful Elsie girl!  We're so proud of you and we love you!!

Grace wanted to write her birthday blog...

Hi everyone! I turned one a few weeks ago!

Here's some pictures my mom took of me when I woke up my birthday morning... I was still kinda tired.

We had just a little birthday party cause my mom is kinda old, and too worn out to throw fancy 1 year old parties.  At least that's what she said.  She promised she'd make it up to me when I turn two.  We'll see how that goes...

I can't believe I've been on earth one whole year!  It kinda seems like I just got here, but then again it seems like I've been here with my family forever.

I try so hard to be a good girl for my mama. I love it when she plays with me, and hugs and kisses me.  She's happy I'm a cuddler. I still get mad sometimes, and always give my mom fair warning before I cry by wrinkling up my little brow.  My mom thinks its really cute.

I still spend a lot of time taking naps, being a baby tires me out!   It seems like my mom is always waking me up though, to put me in the car.  My mama feels really bad and always tells me how sorry she is about that.  But I don't care.  I like car rides. Naps are boring.

I love it when my daddy comes home from work.  My arms and legs start flapping, and won't stop until he picks me up. My daddy loves me a lot.

Spencer and Elsie are the best brother and sister ever.  They help my mom take care of me.  I love them!  Here are some other things about me.

My nick-names:  gracie-gracers, little punkin, squish, squishers, and sweet baby girl.

My teeth: I only have my bottom 2!  I drool all the time and my mom is sure I'll be getting a new tooth 'any day now', but that day never comes.  I think my mom gets a little tired of cleaning up my slobber alllllll the time.

My favorite parts of the day:  playing with Elsie, picking up Spence from school, meal-time, snuggle time with mom, dancing with dad, snuggles and songs with mom before bedtime.

My favorite song  Hum, that's a hard one.  Probably "I see the moon"  with "Rock-a-bye baby" in a close 2nd place.  I like "Hush Little Baby" and "How Much is that Doggie in the Window" a lot too!

My show off tricks:  Peek-a-boo, patty cakes, waving hi and bye, and calling for my binky when it's nap time.  Also, the Indian yell, and the spitting game.  (don't even ask...)

My favorite food:  pears, spaghetti, chicken nuggets, waffles, mac and cheese, and my favorite of all...strawberries. Yum-yum-yum!

My favorite things:  my picnic basket toy, my binky, my blankey, and my tube of baby lotion.

What I want to be when I grow up: A hair stylist!  I love to comb my hair.

What I hope to accomplish this year:  Learning to crawl.  Yep, I still can't figure it out.  And besides that, it's much easier to just cry when I need something cause my family spoils me and comes to my rescue pretty fast!  Especially my mom.  I think it's cause I'm her last baby so she spoils me a LOT.  I love it.  :)

Here are some of my birthday pictures.  My mom was a little frustrated cause I cried a lot and didn't cooperate very well, but what does she expect?  I'm only 1.  And, no one likes having their picture taken. Sheesh.

Happy Birthday to me!
